This piece was commissioned by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group as part of Julian Anderson's Composer-In-Association residency, with generous financial assistance from the Michael Vyner Trust and Investors through BCMG's Sound Investment scheme. The first performance was given on the 21st January 2005 at CBSO Centre, Birmingham.
