Description:
This concerto is preserved only as an arrangement for oboe, violin, viola, and Bc (TWV 51:D6). The significance of the striking B-A-C-H opening is revealed only in the present reconstruction, which is transposed down to B-flat Major. In the reconstructed original key, the work is reminiscent of Bach’s Sixth Brandenburg Concerto in terms of tonality, instrumentation, and movement structure.
