Description:

  • Accompaniment: Piano
Theobald Böhm became the first flutist of the royal Isartortheater in 1816, two years later a member of the royal court orchestra of his native Munich and from 1830 also its first flutist. Concert tours to several European cities established his reputation as one of the leading flute virtuosos. In 1828 he opened a flute-making workshop and revolutionized flute making in two steps: with the conical ring-keyed flute of 1832 he introduced the key system still in use today, and with the acoustically calculated cylinder flute of 1847 he introduced the instrument that has remained virtually unchanged to this day. As a composer, he wrote works that show off the flute as well as the flutist to their best advantage. Record number: 15040 / published in 1857.
