Description:
The trio sonata can be considered the central chamber music genre of the 17th-18th centuries. Before, after, and alongside Corelli's contributions (as the best-known representative to date), a large number of outstanding but today largely unknown works were composed. With the two-volume Catalogue raisonné, this treasure has now finally been unearthed: Compiled with funding from the Balzan Foundation and the University of Zurich, the catalog provides the first bibliography of the genre. It not only records all trio sonatas of the 17th-18th centuries that appeared in print, but also provides detailed information on sources and works as well as introductory comments. The printed catalog is supplemented by an online database with in-depth search capabilities, allowing both scholarly and practical exploration of this delightful repertoire.
