“Jacob de Haan also set lyrics by William Blake to music, right?”
Yes! The Book of Urizen is a composition for wind band, voice (soprano) and (male) speaking voice, in which religious messages are rendered through noise collages. The cycle of poems of the same name by the great English poet and painter William Blake served as a source of inspiration. The poems form the musical guide through the music of Jacob de Haan. The work consists of two compositions: The Vision and The Creation. The Book of Urizen is a fascinating composition that will captivate musicians and audiences alike.

The “First Class” series offers endless possibilities for interaction thanks to its special concept. The way the instrumentation is used makes it possible to play with two or more of the same, but also with different instruments. The ensemble can be supplemented with percussion instruments at will. The principle is very simple: You look at which instruments are available and then select the part booklet from the associated list.
“In Concert” is the first collection in the “First Class” series. The twelve very different pieces are written in the easiest level of difficulty. After just a few months of playing experience, the youngest musicians can make sonorous music together.
Like “First Class - In Concert”, “First Class - On Tour” was composed by Jacob de Haan. This time the music takes their audience to such different countries as America, Egypt, Portugal, Denmark, Zimbabwe, USA, Turkey, Brazil, Greece and many more. The short introduction, the welcome, can be combined with any of these pieces or function as the first movement of a self-assembled suite.
Jacob de Haan worked on this training book for various wind trios together with the Belgian composer André Waignein contributed. This series is published by Michiel Oldenkamp, by the other wind schools “Listen, Read & Play”  can be found in our webshop.
