Cineastic sounds live! Sheet music by John Williams
John Towner Williams (born February 8, 1932 in New York), John Williams for short, is undoubtedly one of the greatest film music composers of our time.
It's good For half a century, John Williams has written the scores for more than 120 films. For five of them, Williams received the Oscar in the “Best Music” category — Schindler's List is one of them. John Williams won the Grammy Award for 24 other films, as well as numerous other awards such as the British Academy Film Award and the Emmy Award.
But all the honors and awards reveal nothing about the power and fullness of his mostly orchestral compositions; Only John Williams' music can achieve this, ideally with a concert evening for highlights of film music. You can find John Williams sheet music for this here!
Who is John Williams?
You can say that John Williams (who learned to read music at the age of three) had a picture-perfect musical career: at 16, Williams was already studying composition at the University of California, and at 18, piano at the renowned Julliard School In New York, at the age of 19, John Williams' first piano sonata was published. Other classical works followed — and he began writing music for television and Hollywood.
John Williams — the film music composer
Finally, John Williams achieved his breakthrough as a film music composer with the films The Poseidon Adventure (1972) and the film classic Jaws (1975). However, John Williams will be familiar to most people who are interested in Star Wars trilogy: John Williams was 45 years old when he wrote the Oscar-winning music for the science fiction epic, which will probably forever be remembered in history one of the greatest film scores of all time. The The Imperial March (Darth Vader's Theme) became the epitome of the march of evil and is often quoted humming or whistling at critical moments.
Great directors such as George Lucas and Steven Spielberg are now among his clients. Therefore, it won't surprise you that the topics from blockbusters like Indiana Jones, Harry Potter or E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial was written by John Williams.
But John Williams also appears as a composer for Classical Music. There are around 20 concerts for different Solo instruments and orchestras are part of his oeuvre. 20 other works show parts of his loyalty and patriotism to the United States: For example, in 1986 John Williams composed the Liberty Fanfare for the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty in New York.
And finally John Williams also appears as a conductor in to the public, most recently in 2020 with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and in 2021 in Berlin with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
