As with the other Beethoven reissues by Clive Brown and Peter Hauschild, the editor does not mechanically align the often very different indications in the sources for the 4th Symphony.
Hauschild's new edition is based on all important primary sources: autograph, first printing of parts, score copies supervised by Beethoven, and finally the first printing of the score.
