Description:
This is straight down the middle basic jazz swing, at a comfortable middle tempo wailing groove (120). Lots of ensemble, shout choruses, loud and soft. Written in a basic Thad Jones style, the beginning theme is light muted brass and saxes with flute on top. The solo section is a slightly extended blues featuring tenor sax and trombone. A meaty sax soli is followed by a soft ensemble shout which then builds extensively to a long full blown tutti. If you like basic 'in the pocket' stuff, you'll like this one. Alto 1 dbls flute. Opt'l parts for French horns, tuba, and percussion.
