In memory of Maynard Ferguson. There will be a wealth of trumpet features dedicated to MF's memory published this year, so here is mine. It is a piece in two sections based on two different moods associated with Maynard during his 'Birdland' period. The first is a bluesey ballad in the style of 'Frame for the Blues'. The second is a laid-back blues in the style of 'Blue Birdland'. The solo trumpet part requires at least a G above high C. The soloist shines over the ensemble. The second section may be opened for more solos. Solo Trumpet Feature - to G above high C. No doubles.
