Description:
This laid back medium groove Lena Horne version of the Cole Porter standard, originally on 'Give the Lady What She Wants', is now featured on the recent album 'Essential Jazz Singers'. Recorded in the 1950's, but this number just does not date. A great walking bass line, drums on brushes and perfect section writing for the horns adds up to the ideal combination. Transcribed by Cy Payne and in the key as recorded. Francy Boland no doubt had this version in mind when he created the instrumental chart for the 'All Smiles' 1968 Clarke Boland Big Band album.
