Description:
Medium Up Tempo Swing.Other than sharing a common tempo and style, Jelly Roll Morton would hardly recognize this quirky piece. Harmonically the term stomp implies a chromatic dominant chord progression of eight bars or so, which is what the head of this tune is based on. Though it asks the pianist for a 12 bar chorus of stride piano, this is basically a hard driving bop chart featuring trombone, tenor and piano with lead trumpet to written E. Instrumentation: 5 Saxes no doubles. 5 trumpets/5 Trombones/Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drums.Soloists: Trombone, Tenor Sax, Piano.Medium difficult.
