An intermediate level big band arrangement. Scored for five saxes (AATTB), four trumpets, four trombones, piano, guitar, bass and drums. The trumpet range goes up to the G just above the staff. This is a great chart for groups with moderate technique, who have a feel for laid-back, funky big band jazz. Strong rock themes punctuated with explosive brass fills. No solos in this one, ensemble all the way. Dont confuse this with the popular record by the group War, although the original automotive inspiration for both is probably the same. This piece was recorded by the Cal State University Northridge A jazz band for Music Minus One records and is available on a CD is entitled Studio City. 5/4/4/g/p/b/d. Medium.
