Description:
An intermediate level big band arrangement. Scored for five saxes (AATTB), four trumpets, four trombones, piano, guitar, bass and drums. The trumpet range goes up to the G just above the staff. This is a traditional bossa nova, reminiscent of Jobim. Although in a minor key it has a bright upbeat feeling. Solo changes are on an easy A minor vamp. There is a written solo for the first tenor sax, but chord changes are in all the parts for flexibility, and the solo section can be easily extended. This piece was recorded by the Cal State University Northridge A jazz band for Music Minus One records and is available on a CD is entitled Studio City. Medium.
