Written by Gerhard Guter half a year after losing his father, this piece is a celebration of the joy-filled, mostly care free life of Kurt Guter. While a ballad might seem a more conventional dedication, there is no question in the composer's mind that Kurt would vastly have preferred a samba - particularly one that transitions into something a little funkier, as happens during the bridge. Kurt's love of classic rock led to the choice for an overdrive guitar solo midway through the piece. The melody is a celebration of the infectious enthusiasm and simplicity Kurt exuded throughout his life. Soloists trumpet 4 and guitar. Doubles: flugelhorns for all trumpets. Tpt. range D6. Medium.
