Recorded in 1968 on the album Basie Straight Ahead this slow swinger defines the Basie style at this tempo. While not overly demanding technically, this chart will challenge even the best bands to play with balance, blend and rhythmic nuance. If you listen to the original recording, you can hear Count Basie playing Hammond Organ behind the band. Bucket mutes are essential in the brass to get the right color for this music.
