Description:
Third Bass is a medium calypso (think St. Thomas) that features the 'low' instruments on the head (Bari, TB 4 and Bass), a blues tune in thirds. An ensemble unison/octave soli sets up the solos for any instrument to improvise on the blues (all parts have the chord changes). Backgrounds for both brass and saxes are interchangeable to work separetely or together. The ensemble soli returns in retrograde form to set up a drum solo with added backgrounds leading into the recap and coda. It is a good chart for teaching improv, scales in thirds and the calypso feel. 5-4-4-4 (Lead trpt. C6) 1/2=100(in cut time). Medium difficult.
