Description:

  • Genre: Ballad
This is a short feature for lead alto. It starts as a ballad with the soloist interweaving figures around a lush brass chorale. Later the hrmonic rhythm is doubles (2 changes to the bar instead of 1) before the rhythm is doubled (to a medium swing tempo). Within this doubletime swing section, the harmonic rhythm is doubles one more time (mis-phrase..stole from Ludwig). Near the end, the original ballad tempo is finally regained. Because of the unique chord progression, each chorus starts a minor third lowe. This adds to the searching, yearning quality of the arrangement. This one isn't too difficult althoughdoubles are strongly recommended. The harmonic progression is unique but flows nicely. A juicy fearure for you rlead altonthat also shows off the different sections of the band to advantage. Trumpet to high B.Alto,Alto/flute,Ten/clar,Ten/clar,Bari/bass clar,4,4,Vibes,G,P,B,D. Medium Difficult.
