If your're at all into what might be called 'Funk Jazz', this chart should fill the bill for you. The rhythm section establishes the groove from the very beginning, with the piano doing the principal background figure accompanying the jazz-funk melody, which is taken up by horns at letter A. At letter B the full ensemble does the melody harmonized, followed by the lead alto sax solo, which is followed by a piano solo. Of course the band director has the option of inserting additional soloists, depending on the talents of jazz-funk chops of your individual players. Following the the piano solo, the full ensemble closes it out with a rousing statement of the melody. This chart should definitely elicit a positive response from both your listening and dancing audiences. Lead trpt. high is altissimo G (concert F4).
