Description:
Celebration by Jean-François Micjel unfolds as a large-scale musical painting depicting the various stages of a popular festival. The first part, fanfares and psalmody, describes the preparations and the announcement of the festival: sonorous shouts are heard, processions form and the crowd gradually flows together, carried by songs, chorales and lively hustle and bustle. The second part, dances around the fire, is the climax of the celebration, in which powerful rhythms and free movements express joy, energy and communal solidarity around the fire. In the final part, the prayer of thanksgiving, the music becomes calmer and inward-looking, as an expression of gratitude, reflection and the search for peace and inner balance. In this way, the work describes a path from exuberant communion to quiet contemplation.
