Description:
Dragonfly was commissioned by the internationally renowned French soloist Bastien Baumet to give new impetus to the euphonium repertoire. The concerto can be performed not only with piano accompaniment, but also with a wind orchestra or brass band. The work consists of three interlocking sections, with a slow and gentle theme separating two dynamic, fast and lively sections. Like a dragonfly, the music is sometimes jerky, sometimes calm, allowing us to discover landscapes, colours and different horizons. Dragonfly puts the soloist in the foreground through its inspiring melody lines, beautiful sound and virtuosity. Bastien Baumet, a graduate of the Paris Conservatory and winner of the first prize at the prestigious "Jeju International Competition" in South Korea, is a leading figure in the world of the euphonium. He will perform this concert all over the world and will be enthusiastically received wherever he performs.
