Description:
Farmer's Tuba was written for tuba player Josef Hofer in 2012. The composer Martin Scharnagl wanted to tailor this solo to his friend and band colleague from the formation VIERA BLECH. The result is a driving piece in a funk style that demands a lot from the soloist, both rhythmically and technically. In the course of time, "Farmer's Tuba" developed into a kind of "trademark" of tuba player Josef Hofer at the numerous concerts of VIERA BLECH and many listeners requested an edition for solo tuba and larger wind instrumentation. With this edition of sheet music, Martin Scharnagl has now enriched the repertoire for solo tuba and brass band with a small masterpiece that will not only be a joy to play for all wind players, but also for the percussion section! Incidentally, the title of the piece is no coincidence: Josef Hofer is not only a musician and music teacher, but also the owner of a farm in Oberndorf near Kitzbühel in Austria.
