Description:
In the Hall of the Mountain King is an orchestral piece composed by Edvard Grieg in 1875. It was written as incidental music for the sixth scene of the second act of Henrik Ibsen’s 1867 play *Peer Gynt*. Originally part of Opus 23, the work was later published as the final movement of the Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46. Its distinctive theme has secured it a firm place in popular culture and inspired numerous arrangements by artists of a wide variety of styles. The temptation to reinterpret this piece in a disco style was simply too great! Andrew Robertson Mackereth July 2026
