On the run was commissioned in 2017 by the tuba soloist, Joseph Cook, for his second solo album, "Debut 2".
His only criteria for the commission was: "Write me something funky for tuba". The piece is based on a halftone interval combined with funky rhythms (and a hint of bitonality).
