Postcards from Tomorrow springs from a simple, powerful image: children bury a box full of drawings and objects—silent messages to their future selves. This gesture gives rise to a universal question: What wishes do we carry within us for tomorrow, and what traces do we want to leave behind? The work unfolds in three interconnected movements (attaca), like postcards from the future. The first movement, Abandoned Blockhouses, is a reflection on the scars of history, in which the traces of human violence persist. Unstable motives develop into an earth theme that gradually turns into a cry for help. The music confronts the brutality of war and leads to a haunting fanfare, inspired by the Dies Irae, between judgment and redemption. Pagoda at the Lake, the second movement, is a place of remembrance and contemplation. The pagoda becomes a symbol of the return to the essential, represented by a calm, meditative tonal language and solo voices. The arch shape (ABCBA) reflects balance and harmony. The last movement, Building Bridges, is an expression of hope. After looking into the past, this sentence calls for connection and unity. A rhythmic ostinato forms a sonic bridge and leads to a luminous, future-oriented conclusion.
