Description:
Rhapsody in Blue, by George Gershwin, was written for solo piano and jazz band in 1924 and combines elements of classical music with jazz-influenced effects. The composition received its premiere in a concert entitled An Experiment in Modern Music, which was held on 12 February 1924, in Aeolian Hall, New York, by Paul Whiteman and his band with Gershwin playing the piano. This version for brass band, arranged by Steve Skykes, provides a nice addidition to the brass band concert repertoire as it highlights the key themes from the original work.
