Description:
The halling "Rotneims-Knut" is one of the best-known folkdance tunes in Norway and is very popular in the context of competitions, both for use in music competitions and for dancing. The tune was named after the master dancer Knut Skaga (1809 - 1851) from Hallingdal, and can be found in countless variations both in Western Norway, in Hallingdal and Valdres.
The arrangement by Rohan Sandemo Fernando was commissioned by Korpsnett Norge for the repertoire project "Arvegods" and is based on the version by the master fiddler Olav Moe from Vestre Slidre in Valdres. Moe was also the fiddler who inspired Johannes Hanssen to include a halling-like theme in the Valdres march. A connection Fernando has hinted at in this arrangement.
