Description:
This piece was written for the South Derbyshire Music Center. It is intended to be a light-hearted, entertaining work similar to Peter and the Wolf, but with even more humor coming straight from the brass section! The work includes a narrator who can dress up as Santa Claus or in a similar costume. It is possible to change the name of the village, the conductor or even the instruments to adapt the piece to the performance context. For cue no. 3, it would be ideal if the ensemble created wind noises and other effects, the tuba made a pressed sound and the trombone added a muted glissando. Although the entire text can be spoken by the narrator, cue no. 4 is particularly effective when performed by a member of the percussion section. Whenever the narrator speaks, this should be accompanied by the sound of wind chimes. Please have fun and be free with the piece! I had great fun composing it - and imagining all the nonsense the musicians could get up to on stage.
