Description:
Sunrise Sparks is a work in five movements, conceived as a musical travel diary. It was written for two young cousins, Léa and Méline, who are both passionate about music. The piece follows their imaginary journey through contrasting landscapes - each representing a stage in their discovery of the world. The journey begins with "Takeoff", a bright, rhythmic opening in which the excitement of departure is palpable in every note. The second movement, "Camels in the Desert", takes the listener on a slow, swaying desert hike under a blazing sun with oriental colors and a mysterious atmosphere. This is followed by "Jungle Rush", a lively dive into lush, dense vegetation, characterized by energetic rhythms and pulsating percussion. "Over the Ocean" offers a contemplative pause a flight over the sea, carried by floating harmonies and lyrical lines. Finally, "Landing" brings the work to a virtuosic, energetic and luminous finale, in which the opening theme reappears - but this time in reverse. The two cornets answer each other, merge, challenge and complement each other - like two friends traveling, discovering, dreaming and growing side by side. Sunrise Sparks is as much a tribute to traveling as it is to the musical and human connection that unites the two young performers.
