At the foot of the Buchsiberge mountains, where the Stauffenbach stream from Wäckerschwend joins the Altachen, lies the cozy village of Thörigen. This is how the village is described on its own website. And with it also immediately where the dangers lie: Thanks to the flat geology and the many bodies of water, the village is at high risk of flooding. The last flood occurred on 12.07.2016, the streets were flooded with water and debris, and debris flows occurred in various places. My work "The Flood" describes in the style of a movie how the flood overruns the village: First there is the intro, the movie begins! Then the picturesque village is introduced, everything is calm, no signs of a storm. But the idyll is deceptive: a violent thunderstorm is building up far away! The lakes and rivers are filling up and flooding is imminent. But back to the village: nobody suspects what is about to happen... But suddenly the flood systems sound the alarm: the tidal wave is on its way, the river is overflowing its banks! Now the battle against the water begins. With all their might, they try to divert and divert the water. After a while, the water recedes again. Much has been destroyed, but hope is slowly but steadily rekindling: The streets and cellars affected by the flooding are cleaned up again. The village shines in new splendor!
