Two Worlds is a musical journey through time that explores the enduring power of storytelling. In a fantastic, imaginary encounter, Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun and American President Lincoln – who in reality are separated by over 5,000 years – meet and discuss myths, truths and beliefs that have shaped their respective cultures. From the sun gods of ancient Egypt to the American dream of equality, this evocative work combines fantasy and history with spirited film scores. Two Worlds is a dramatic play that is thought-provoking and reminds us that the stories we believe in can unite or separate, destroy or inspire us.
The composition was commissioned on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Swiss brass band Bürgermusik Luzern in 2022.
