Every title in this edition has proven itself in my 20 years of practice as a children's and youth choir director and composer and has been sung with enthusiasm by generations over the years. In all the texts I have tried to capture the children's world of experience. They are often "motivational songs for children", but they are not childish, they are immediately moving. The musical motivation is created by the physical groove, which picks them up in their urge to move. For the songs, I took inspiration from my young choir members to create a joint choreography. In addition to the pop idiom, there are also quieter titles that touch the spiritual in people. They are written for the sensitivity of children's souls in order to appeal to their natural openness to higher questions of life.
The songs from Circus of Life were created in 2014 as a musical from a co-production with circus teachers and their children's groups. Some of the lyrics (in "Irgendwas", "In meinem Schrank" and "Zwergenhit") were written by the children themselves. These three, as well as the title song "Circus of Life", have an easy level of difficulty, while the other titles present some hurdles, particularly in the treatment of the high notes, which should be mastered well in terms of vocal technique. "Das Lied vom traurigen Clown" reflects feelings of loneliness and exclusion. The view through the laughing and crying eye easily picks up children in their relationships to themselves and within groups.
