Description:
A "saving straw" is a metaphor. Its meaning: that people, in their hope of being rescued from a desperate situation, rely on even the smallest chance. The Christmas story is also a story of saving straws: of those who grasp at them, like the shepherds living on the edge of the world and clinging to a dream of a human life, or the astrologers searching for a new star and thus a new outlook or a different view of the world. And of those who reach out such a straw: the angels who seek out people and encourage them, show them the way and draw their attention to dangers. An unusual approach to the meaning of the Christmas story, which focuses on the other participants (ox and donkey, astrologers, shepherds, Herod, innkeepers, angels) without the active participation of Mary and Joseph and actively involves the audience in every scene.
