Mila and the Ship's Tree' was commissioned by the Académie musicale of Villecroze as part of the project '3 composers write for school'. It is a musical story for narrator, children's choir and instrumental accompaniment that helps children between five and eight years old to gain their first experience of musical theater and choral singing in a pedagogically valuable and exciting way.
With the deep sensitivity and subtlety that are the secret of her art, Isabelle Aboulker tells the story of a little girl who manages to get over the loss of someone she loves more than anything, namely her grandfather. The utterly charming melodies of this work, written for unison choir, entwine themselves over an instrumental accompaniment in which tender melancholy alternates with subtle humor - this musical language comes straight from the heart.
