Description:
The "Harvest Celebration" is the third of the church oratorios by Brahms' friend Heinrich von Herzogenberg, which he himself considered to be his most important. The texts, compiled in three parts by the theologian Friedrich Spitta, span a wide range from concrete Thanksgiving to the "harvest of life". The "Harvest Celebration" provides an interesting insight into the stylistic diversity of church music at the end of the 19th century and demonstrates the composer's skill for scenic-dramatic design in a special way.
Individual performances are conceivable, e.g. B. the third part as part of a requiem concert, for example as a supplement to Brahms' "German Requiem" (additional effort: soprano and tenor soloist) or to Mozart's Requiem (additional effort: six wind instruments).
