Description:
Kitson is one of the lesser-known English composers who held steadfastly to the Romantic ideal of sound well into the 20th century. Introducing him to upper voice choirs in this country is worthwhile simply because of these three short, tonally attractive movements, which he wrote in the 1930s and which are ideal for use in liturgy today. Elegant melodic lines, a pleasant range of the voices and the ease of performance, to which canonic part-writing also contributes, recommend the three pieces for inclusion in the repertoire of women's and children's choirs alike.
