Description:
Written for the Los Angeles Chamber Singers and its music director, Peter Rutenberg, and as a sequel to Chihara's 'Magnificat' for women's voices (EP66614), this is an expressive, striking work. The Alma Mater Dei is contrapuntal, evoking Palestrina, which contrasts with the homophonic style of the Alleluia, which reminded one listener of a Verdi chorus.
