Claudio Monteverdi's Conzenettas from 1584 show the master from a hitherto less recognized side, namely as the creator of a "minor art" that is not inferior to his great works, the music dramas and madrigals in terms of genius and significance.
With their differentiated polyphony and the way the text is treated, the works presented in this booklet belong to the realm of the choral a cappella style and the great madrigal. They are therefore suitable for a small choral ensemble, but can also be performed by soloists if the vocal parts are supported by instruments.
