Description:
It is not equally well-known in all German-speaking dioceses, but where it is sung, it is always done with particular fervor: the Epiphany song 'Es führt drei König Gottes Hand'. The text and melody originate from Cologne, where the Shrine of the Epiphany is also located, and it was from there that the Düsseldorf composer Klaus Wallrath was commissioned to compose an appropriate hymn motet. The sections of his arrangement that follow the five verses are captivating due to their individual design, their colorful harmonies and their great expressiveness. The congregation can take part in the first and last verses; the last is arranged in the best English manner with descant soprano over the lower voices singing in unison.
Also published in a version for SATB and organ (BUTZ3034).
