Rihards Dubra's work Es sakūru uguntiņu is a 6 minute work for upper voices. It is closely connected with Latvian mythology - alongside God, the fate-deciding goddess Laima also appears here. The composition is shaped in a folk-inspired spirit and portrays the healing power of fire. Without avoiding a traditional musical language, a rather ascetic soundscape is created, in which the lyrical main theme, shaded in minor colours, stands out in relief and evokes associations with one of the ancient Latvian folk song melodies. This is set in contrast to colourful chordal verticals, which become especially illuminated after the song's dramatic culmination, creating a sense of warmth and spiritual depth.
