Description:
Franz Schubert's popular 'German Mass' from 1827 follows on from Michael Haydn's 'German High Mass' in its idea of a German-language setting of the Ordinary. Due to its homophonic structure with largely syllabic text processing, the work is also open to less experienced choirs in comparison to Schubert's other Latin masses. The diatonic melodies and the slow tempi throughout contribute to this.
