Stephan Görg has created an impressive "Agnus Dei": in three increasing waves, Görg develops the call for mercy with refined late Romantic harmony. The polyphonic interplay, especially between soprano and tenor, gives the work a special intensity. After a three-part sequence, the composition ends with the final plea for peace ("Dona nobis pacem"). The music begins in the tonal field of C minor and, after multiple harmonic turns and motivic deceleration, finds its way to a peaceful C major. Refined reminiscences of Samuel Barber's "Agnus Dei", which inspired Stephan Görg to compose it, are heard.
