Description:
In Aizej, lietiņ (Go Away, Rain), Ešenvalds masterfully combines
textures ranging from traditional herdsman's calls and kokles, the
Latvian stringed folk instrument, to expansive choral harmonies and piano/accordion accompaniment. These varying colors swirl together as the choir pleads with the rain to stay away from Midsummer celebrations and instead allow the sun to shine. — from notes by Christopher Walsh Sinka © 2017
