Description:
Cast:
SAB, soloist or small group, piano ad lib. & instrumental solo
A new version of one of the most popular choral works by Latvian composer Eriks Ešenvalds.Designed to make the work accessible to a wider range of choirs, this version is arranged for soloist or small group, mixed choir (SAB), optional piano accompaniment & instrumental solo. The optional piano accompaniment is designed to support the singers during rehearsals and can be used for performance if desired. The choral parts have been arranged by highly respected Latvian composer and arranger Andris Sējāns, with the piano ad lib. parts by arranger Graham Welsh. Ancient Prairie is drawn from a larger work for choir and orchestra, Whispers on the Prairie Wind, which was premiered in 2015.
The lush harmonies underpin one of Ešenvalds' most lyrical melodies. The text is an English translation of a verse by Bay Yuyi (772-846), a Tang Dynasty poet.
