Description:
Herbert Trauner composed the "Ansfelden Mass" in G major for soloists, mixed choir and organ as the first mass in 2018. Since its composition, the mass has already been successfully performed several times (Ansfelden, St. Florian Abbey, Wilhering Abbey and the highlight to date was probably the broadcast as a radio and television mass [ORF III] on September 22, 2024 from the Ansfelden parish church). The mass is not based on the sounds of modernism, as one might assume from its year of composition, but on the compositional technique of classical and romanticism with a slight hint of popular music. The latter is perhaps recognizable in the harmonic sequence in the Benedictus and Credo as well as in the occasionally rhythmic organ accompaniment. Great importance was attached to melodious voice leading, a varied harmonic structure and underlining the text set to music. The lively and joyful character of this mass is unmistakable. There are also sensitive, sweet and dramatic passages in the Benedictus, Agnus Dei and Credo. The mass contains all parts of the Ordinary and offers space for the soprano, alto, tenor and bass soloists in the Gloria, Benedictus and Credo.
