Description:
Be still is a wonderful setting of Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God." The music begins very quietly a cappella and thus reflects the title. Then the violin enters and steers with the voices towards a climax until they slowly become quieter together again. The piece is not long, but is very impressive due to its subtleties and the solo violin part.
It was commissioned for the Scottish Crathie Kirk service in September 2024 and is dedicated to King Charles III, Queen Camilla and the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay (William and Catherine).
