  • Weight: 80 g
  • Genre: Sacred & Church Music, Oratorio
A work commissioned by Munich Cathedral Music for the 2024 festival year: 1300 years ago, the bishop and itinerant preacher Korbinian came to Bavaria. The SELIGPREISUNGEN as an introduction embody the teachings of Jesus as the essence of Christianity as a "Magna Charta" ("great document"). Jesus as the teacher of wisdom at the spiritual height of all great philosophers and religious founders, but who also emphasized the social and humanistic aspects of human coexistence. The oratorio juxtaposes each of the eight praises with time-related "interludes" in which the immense time span of 1300 years is brought to life: Memories of personalities such as St. Korbinian, the Munich cathedral musicians Conrad Paumann and Orlando die Lasso, of strife, wars, the destruction of Munich and the tragedies of the victims in the Dachau concentration camp.
