Description:
Uses: Holy Week, Good Friday, Tenebrae
Scripture: Matthew 27:45-54; John 19:34; Matthew 27:51
The shadows fall hard as the message of this piece is delivered. Dark, brooding sonorities weave a veil ofsorrow as we visit Golgotha and all of its power. Simple imitation and effective melodic sequencing lead us through the tableau of tears. It is only at the end that we are reminded that this suffering servant was indeed the Son ofGod and in his death God's will was fulfilled. A true testament of grace for churches everywhere.
