This song became well-known through Celine Dion’s Christmas version with the French lyrics "Les Cloches Du Hameau" and was released in 1998 on the CD "These Are Special Times." It is attributed to Johannes Brahms. However, we have our doubts about his authorship. We suspect instead that Albert Larieux (1872–1925) composed and wrote the lyrics for this piece. What we do know, however, is that our choral edition features two new German lyrics, one intended for secular settings ("Die Glocken läuten im Tal") and the other for Christmas singing ("Die Weihnachtsglocken"). Both texts are included in our choral edition, which can also be sung a cappella if desired. And as a special highlight, we’ve written two different piano accompaniments that you can use as needed.
