Description:
Für den Gottesdienst im Berliner Dom nach der Neuen Preussischen Agende schrieb Mendelssohn 'Die deutsche Liturgie'. Sie genügte den damaligen restaurativen Anforderungen einer schlichten Kirchenmusik und zeigt zugleich Mendelssohns Begabung, durch feine innere Struktur der kurzen Sätze dem oft spröden Stil des Cäcilianismus entgegenzuwirken. Die ersten sechs Takte des Gloria, die nicht von Mendelssohn stammen, sind im vorliegenden Band nicht mit abgedruckt, sondern nur in der Einzelausgabe (CV 40.128/20) zu finden.
