If Music Be the Food of Love

From the Brandon Williams Choral Series, Paul Conrad's new setting of If Music Be the Food of Love is a joyful celebration of music, singing, and the enduring choral tradition. Conceived as an equal dialogue between choir and piano, the work allows each to introduce, develop, and share musical ideas, culminating in a solemn yet comforting postlude that quotes Henry Purcell's 1692 setting. Lush harmonies, soaring melodic lines, expressive duets, and moments of gentle diatonic dissonance create a rich and satisfying musical experience. Quoting Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, this piece stands as a heartfelt ode to harmony through the ages and the joy of singing together.
